Well here’s something no one expected but I’ll be happy to see it happen!

March 16 2017 over on the Bandai Namco blog it was announced that the upcoming season pass DLC will feature characters from franchises outside of the Tekken universe!

The first batch, to be released this Summer 2017, will provide a brand-new game mode and more than 50 new costumes. The second and third batches of content, to be released respectively this Winter 2017 and next Spring 2018, will both feature one exclusive playable guest character from other videogames’ licenses with, each time, a special stage and special costumes for these guest characters. This 3 post launch pieces of content will be purchasable individually but will also be available through the Season Pass that will grant to each buyers 35 exclusive metallic costumes.

Now this isn’t the first time this has happened (my personal favorite guest character was Gon in Tekken 3) but what’s interesting this time around is the director of the game Katsuhiro Harada has taken to twitter asking fans who they’d like to see in the upcoming DLC!

As you can all imagine the internet is running wild requesting everyone from Goku to Bayonetta but one of the most recurring requests from fans has been Kazuma Kiryu! According to Tekken fan site tekkengamer.com “Kazuma Kiryu from the Yakuza series has probably been the most asked for character since Harada’s tweet.”

Great news that want to see a little more cross promotion happen with our favorite series! Since Yakuza launched we’ve only seen Kiryu appear in 2 other titles by outside studios (that aren’t Pachinko machines or cell phone games) Project X Zone 2 and as a DLC character for Hot Shots Golf on PS3 so getting him in to another mainstream title would be huge!

Harada is still taking suggestions so if you want to see Kiryu show up then make sure you send him a tweet and let him know!
