Latest Ryu Ga Gotoku podcast is live. This time the team has released it on Youtube as well as audio. The Youtube version is accompanied by a slideshow of pictures from the recording studio which is a nice little look in.
Those who prefer the audio version can grab it here.
Today is the anniversary of Yakuza 5’s release in Japan I thought I’d give a quick update to those fans still hoping to see Yakuza 5 in the west (like all of us here).
While we still have no official word from Sega regarding a western release we’re still hopeful, Ryu ga Gotoku 5 sold 590,000 copies in Japan as of May 2013 (before dropping of the Media Create charts) and received perfect scores from almost all japanese reviewers and was popular enough to get a Playstation 3 The Best version which releases today!
On our own Like/Share campaign we have over 600 more shares and only less than 2000 likes than the official Sega run Hatsune Miku campaign!
That is a HUGE number of people that want to see Yakuza 5 in the west! Yes we’re just fans but imagine the turn out if Sega would get behind this!
Let @Sega know what we want!
1 4 months after release Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin will be available to be upgraded from the PS3 to the PS4 version through the PSN for only ¥1000 (Roughly $9.99 USD).
Not a bad deal for users who want to buy and plan on getting a PS4 later. Much like our western games upgraders will need to keep the PS3 disk to be able to launch the upgrade version in their PS4 consoles.
Final Ryu Ga Gotoku history lesson with Yokoyama-san. This time it’s Ryu Ga Gotoku 5.
Let’s learn how the Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin battle system works allowing you to quick change between sword and gun styles. We even get to see some of the new brutal Heat Actions!
Reminder: Ryu Ga Gotoku 5 Playstation 3 The Best goes on sale on December 5th!
The game will also come with a special edition Ishin bonus bluray containing both trailers that have already been released online and a cast interview (that is also already online).
The 1 year anniversary of Yakuza 5’s release in Japan! At only $40 it’s about 50% less than it was at release making it a really good deal!
It’s still unknown if Yakuza 5 will make it west but there’s a fantastic guide over here to help you get through it in Japanese.
First Ishin restaurant tie in announced! You’d think it would be hard to do tie ins in a game set in 1868 but that won’t stop anyone!
Besides having the restaurant appear in game they’re also partnering with Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and Sega for a pretty awesome giveaway!
Starting today if you order from Kamatora you will be entered to win one of the above prizes:
- Ishin branded pillow (20 to give away)
- Ishin fan (100 to give away)
- Sakamoto Ryoma (Kiryu) statue (12 to give away)!
All entrants also get exclusive wallpapers for cell phones and PC!
You will also be entered to win the grand prize of 1 of 5 Sony Playstation 4’s and a copy of Ishin when they launch in Japan next year!
Let it be known; I will have that pillow and statue, somehow.
Time to learn about the characters of Ryu Ga Gotoku 4 with series producer Yokoyama-san.
Trader 3: The Otaku Yakuza
The Otaku visits a Japanese gangster for an imported copy of Yakuza 5 and invites him to join a small Anime Club, who he then inspires to expand their influence.
Trader takes an unflinching look at the game trade, through the eyes of both the dealers and the players.
Trader | Trader 2: Power to the Players
To be continued.
I’m super proud of this one, it’s a sequel to The Otaku and Jeff Sloniker is incredibly funny as a Takeshi Kitano gangster. Watch and love it!!! ヾ(●⌒∇⌒●)ﾉ
Frank Howley’s Trader web series takes a look at the lengths Yakuza fans will go to get their favorite game.
Before anyone thinks Frank’s being insensitive know that he’s a huge anime and japanese film nerd and it all stems from a place of love.
Time for a new Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin voice actor interview! This time we meet Sakuraba Nanami who will be playing, Oryo. Sakamoto Ryoma’s (Kiryu’s) wife!
Time for your next Ryu Ga Gotoku history lesson. This time Yokoyama discusses Yakuza 3. The shift to a 3D world and the new characters that are introduced and their Ishin counterparts.
Mentioned during the latest Sega Raw was the announcement of a live RGG Ishin demo and autograph event. To be held around Japan with Nagoshi-san and Yokoyama-san appearing at stores marked with a ※.
People who attend the event will get to play Ryu Ga Gotoku Ishin (the PS3 version) before anyone else and will get some cool Yakuza swag, such as, the Ishin clear folder pictured above and a Ryu Ga Gotoku branded beach towel (guess they had some left over).
