Just announced today these extremely stylish (and expensive) Yakuza ring and pendant based on Kazuma Kiryu’s tattoo design.
Given the hefty price tag these will be items for only the most fashionable Yakuza fans.
Got this in my mailbox and took a look at the forum immediately. You should too. If you want Yakuza 5 to ever come out of Japan, we really need to let SEGA know that we WANT this game. A letter doesn’t cost much and it’s a really good way to get in touch with SEGA without spamming them online. I’m going to send at least two letters, both to different countries.
And so help me if we can’t get even 1000 people to send letters! And before you go thinking all negative like “it doesn’t make a difference anyway” or “other people will send them so I don’t have to”, just no. Don’t. The Yakuza fandom is small in comparison and every person counts.
Here’s the link for more information and the date:
Thank you for letting me know about this!
Everyone who wants Yakuza 5 take note!
New Yakuza (Ryu Ga Gotoku) game in the works according to Famitsu!
From this weeks upcoming Famitsu magazine during an interview with series supervisor Nagoshi-san and series producer Yokoyama-san they discussed the next Ryu Ga Gotoku game and auditions for the upcoming hostesses.
No other details have leaked yet but as soon as they do we’ll update with more info. No word if it will be Yakuza 6 or another spin off like Ishin but I would wager it will be a continuation of the main series.
hey so Gaming History 101 did an episode on Yakuza 1 for the PS2
Nice catch! Make sure to give it a listen!
Coming from an interview with Gamingbolt.com Sega Japan have once again confirmed there are no current plans to bring over Yakuza Ishin.
Leonid: Will Yakuza Ishin ever get a western release considering the fact that it’s the #1 PlayStation 4 game in Japan?
Sega Japan: There are currently no plans at this time.
Aside from disappointing western audiences the interview actually has some really interesting details:
Leonid: Why did you decide to make Yakuza Ishin a spin-off, instead of the next main entry in the franchise?
Sega Japan: We had the idea of making a spin-off based on the Edo era from the start. In the previous Yakuza 5 game, we were able to put one break off to the modern time version and wanted to add more of an RPG type of gameplay in the next title. We felt the idea of the new game and the time setting of the Edo era matched and so Yakuza Ishin was created.
They also go into some great stuff about programming on PS3/PS4. Definitely worth a read if you want to get into some of the fine details of Yakuza Ishin.
Can you spot tiny pixel Kazuma Kiryu?
Great job probertson!
Looks like Sega is going to completely abandon western Yakuza fans. For those not in the know a few months ago (Sep 30 2013) Operation Rainfall’s localization polls closed with the winner receiving a reduced cost localization by professional translation group Language Automation, Inc (LAI).
The proposal was written and submitted, but after months of waiting with no official word from both parties, Sega has formally rejected the proposal for localizing Yakuza 5 for western release.
LAI’s press release regarding the translation project:
OFFICIAL LAI UPDATE 05/01/2014:
Thank you all for your support in the Operation Rainfall initiative to convince Sega and Konami to bring specific games from Japan to the US (and in the best case scenario, to other markets as well).
We wanted to provide you with an update regarding the Operation Rainfall and LAI collaboration. We reached out to both SEGA and Konami, presenting the numbers from Operation Rainfall’s fan poll and letting them know of our interest in providing localization discounts for games targeted in this poll. We did our very best, however neither company has expressed interest in moving forward with localization at this time, but we will be sure to report back if we have any updates!
I’m afraid it’s not looking good for Yakuza fans in the west. With Yakuza 5 nearing the longest announcement of the numbered series (Yakuza 2 at 587 days) at 516 days so far. We’ll keep you up to date with any new developments on the localization front!
Ryu Ga Gotoku X mobage avatar costumes available.
Ryu Ga Gotoku studio have teamed up with mobage to bring Yakuza series character costumes to avatars for 300 Mobakoins!
Team Ryu Ga Gotoku working on.. something.
In a recent interview with Japanese magazine Dengeki Playstation Producer Masayoshi Yokoyama and Director Daisuke Sato, when asked if they were currently working on anything new, jokingly replied that they’re already working hard, they’re salary-men and can’t just remain idle.
They hope to be able to announce the new project later this year.
No word on if it’s a new Yakuza title or something completely new but we’ll definitely be keeping watch!
Two Best Friends Play Yakuza (Part 38 FINAL)
Sad to see this series coming to an end. 2 Best Friends Play have done more to promote Yakuza than Sega! They’ve shown more love for this series and all it’s weird quirks than any other Let’s Play out there.
Well done guys!
Still catching up on my backlog so this is a little out of date!
