: SEGA fans, or more specifically, Yakuza fans, are going through a bit…
SEGA fans, or more specifically, Yakuza fans, are going through a bit of a rough spot, I see, and a majority of them are left feeling rather unhappy with the news that Yakuza 5 may not come overseas.
Now, I speak as a Shenmue fan. I’ve waited ten years for the saga to be completed, and it’s no short time. Completion of the Shenmue story is something that is probably never going to happen, but I do have a small hope for it. I do. So, speaking as a Shenmue fan, I can definitely see why some Yakuza fans are up in arms, and I definitely don’t blame them.
I suppose it’s a little different cause the third Shenmue hasn’t even been made. Yakuza 5 has, so it is out there for people to buy if they want, but I can see why fans would approach importing the game with trepidation cause Yakuza relies so heavily on story. Yakuza 5 may be the most user friendly title yet, but the story is rather complex.
So, basically, what I’m trying to say is: SEGA have never been very good with listening to fans. I understand that with the recent update, they are asking quite a lot of their loyal fans and don’t think you all want the game that badly, but, if you can actually prove them wrong and prove you all do want Yakuza 5, it may happen. Don’t give up the hope no matter how fragile the hope may be.
Do anything you can. Sign petitions, spread word around about the series cause from my understanding, it’s not that popular overseas. Just do anything you can. Prove you all want the game.
Keep your chins up, everyone <3

Thanks for the pep talk! As a Shenmue fan I can’t believe nothing’s been done with it. I was crushed when Shenmue online was cancelled (that game was ¾ done!) and it’s a crime Sega haven’t just given the liscence to Team Ryu Ga Gotoku and got them to make something using the Yakuza engine! Sega is a fickle mistress.
